Increasingly, companies are realizing that diversity and inclusion aren’t enough; they must also build a sense of belonging for all employees. However, this can be much easier said than done: The latest EY Belonging Barometer study suggests that at least 40% of working adults experience feelings of isolation in the workplace. Despite the $8 billion spent collectively on DE&I training each year, nearly half of working adults feel disconnected from their jobs and have a negative perception of the company where they work. Belonging is often the key missing ingredient in these conversations. Addressing this need can help businesses reap multiple bottom-line benefits, from significant increases in employee satisfaction and job performance to big decreases in turnover – all more important than ever in today’s workforce crisis.
This session will feature business leaders from a wide variety of perspectives and experiences, including those from the LGBTQ+ community and who span the generations, and explore what a more inclusive work environment feels and looks like. We’ll cover top strategies for how companies can create a culture where all employees are comfortable being their authentic selves at work and how focusing on this human side of an organization can help attract and retain talent, spur growth and strengthen the bottom line.
